Nœux-les-Mines is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. It is located in the Hauts-de-France region, 25 kilometers (16 miles) southwest of Béthune. The town has a population of around 12,000 people. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 5°C (41°F) in January to 18°C (64°F) in July. The town has a rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages. It was once a major center for coal mining, but the mines have since closed. Today, the town is home to a number of light industries.
