Niquero, also known as Niguero, is a town in the Granma province of Cuba, located at the southern coast of the island. The town has a tropical savanna climate, with an average temperature of 26°C (79°F) and an average rainfall of 1,200 mm (47 in) per year. Niquero was founded in 1848 and was an important sugar producing center in the 19th century. The town's heritage is reflected in its colonial architecture, including the Iglesia de San Antonio de Padua, built in 1860.
