Newmarket, New Hampshire is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. It is located at the confluence of the Lamprey and Exeter rivers, about 10 miles (16 km) from the Atlantic Ocean. The town was founded in 1693 and was originally known as Lamprey River. The name was changed to Newmarket in 1827. The town is home to the Newmarket Mills, a historic textile mill complex that is now a mixed-use development. The town is also home to the Newmarket International Film Festival, which is held annually in October.
