Newberry, South Carolina is a city located in Newberry County, South Carolina, United States. It is situated at the crossroads of US Highways 76 and 176, approximately 35 miles (56 km) northwest of Columbia, the state capital. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Newberry was founded in 1785 and named after General Daniel Newberry, a Revolutionary War hero. The city has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and sites, including the Newberry Opera House and the Newberry County Museum.
