New Rochelle, New York, also known as N'ju-Roshel', is a city located at the northern end of Long Island Sound, approximately 20 miles northeast of Manhattan. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. New Rochelle was founded in 1688 by Huguenot refugees from France and has a rich history and heritage. The city is home to many historic landmarks, including the Thomas Paine Cottage and the Huguenot Church.
