New Roads, Louisiana, is a small city located in Pointe Coupee Parish, about 30 miles northwest of Baton Rouge. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. New Roads was founded in 1794 by French settlers and was originally known as Les Trois Canaux. The city's heritage is reflected in its architecture, which includes many historic buildings dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries.
