New London has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The town's history dates back to the early 18th century when it was first settled by English colonists. It was incorporated in 1779 and played a significant role in the American Revolutionary War. New London is known for its historic architecture, including the Colby-Sawyer College campus, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
