New Columbia, Pennsylvania is a small borough located in Union County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is situated along the Susquehanna River, approximately 15 miles north of Harrisburg. The borough has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. New Columbia was founded in 1785 by John Kelly and was originally known as Kelly's Ferry. The town grew rapidly in the 19th century due to its location on the Susquehanna River and its proximity to the Pennsylvania Canal. New Columbia is home to several historic buildings, including the John Kelly House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
