Nerekhta, a town in the Kostroma Oblast of Russia, is situated on the Nerekhta River, 44 kilometers southwest of Kostroma. The town has a humid continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. Nerekhta was first mentioned in chronicles in 1214 and was granted town status in 1778. It is home to several historical and architectural landmarks, including the Church of the Resurrection (1694), the Church of the Nativity of Christ (1768), and the merchant's house of the Krylov family (18th century).
