Néa Mesimvría is a town in the regional unit of Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia, Greece. It is located in the Thermaic Gulf, 15 km southeast of Thessaloniki, and is part of the Thessaloniki metropolitan area. The town has a population of 22,025 inhabitants. Néa Mesimvría is a relatively new town, founded in the 1920s by refugees from East Thrace. The town's economy is based on agriculture, tourism, and fishing. The town is also home to a number of historical and archaeological sites, including the ruins of the ancient city of Thermi.
