Murphy, Texas is a town in Collin County, approximately 30 miles northeast of Dallas. The town has a population of approximately 17,000 residents and is known for its small-town charm and growing suburban community. The town experiences a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Murphy was founded in 1848 by William and Nancy Murphy and was originally known as "Spring Creek." The town was renamed in 1881 in honor of its founders. Murphy has a rich heritage and is home to several historic sites, including the Murphy Cemetery, the Murphy Cotton Gin, and the Murphy Methodist Church.
