Murphy, Missouri is a small town located in Jefferson County, Missouri, United States. It is situated at the intersection of Missouri Route 21 and Missouri Route 141, approximately 20 miles southwest of St. Louis. The town has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cool, wet winters. Murphy was founded in 1839 by John Murphy, a farmer from Kentucky. The town was originally known as Murphy's Mill, but the name was later changed to Murphy. The town has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic buildings, including the Murphy House, which was built in 1840 and is now a museum.
