Mount Vernon is a city in Skagit County, Washington, United States. It is located at the mouth of the Skagit River on Padilla Bay, approximately 60 miles (97 km) north of Seattle and 20 miles (32 km) south of the Canada–US border. The city was named after George Washington's Mount Vernon estate. The weather in Mount Vernon is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 40°F to 60°F throughout the year. The city has a rich history and heritage, having been founded in 1877 as a logging town. It is home to several historical landmarks, including the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, which was built in 1883 and is the oldest church in the city.
