Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania is a small town located in Westmoreland County, approximately 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The town has a humid continental climate, with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Mount Pleasant was founded in 1782 by Colonel John Proctor, and was originally known as Proctor's Settlement. The town played a significant role in the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794, and was the site of several skirmishes between rebels and federal troops. Mount Pleasant is also home to the Mount Pleasant Glass Museum, which houses a collection of over 10,000 pieces of glass from around the world.
