Mount Holly is a borough in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States. It is located on the Rancocas Creek, approximately 20 miles (32 km) northeast of Philadelphia. The borough has a population of 9,538 (as of the 2010 census) and a total area of 3.1 square miles (8.0 km2). The climate of Mount Holly is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. The borough was founded in 1677 by Quakers and was originally known as Bridgetown. It was renamed Mount Holly in 1796 after the nearby Mount Holly Friends Meetinghouse. Mount Holly played an important role in the American Revolution and was the site of several battles. The borough is home to several historic buildings, including the Burlington County Courthouse, which is the oldest courthouse in New Jersey.
