The village has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Mount Carmel was founded in 1812 by German immigrants and is home to a number of historic buildings, including the Mount Carmel Meeting House, which was built in 1814 and is the oldest church building in Clermont County.
