Montesano Salentino, or simply Montesano, is a town in Apulia, Italy, located in the province of Lecce. The town is situated in the Salento peninsula, between the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. Montesano has a long history, dating back to the Middle Ages. The town was once part of the Kingdom of Naples and later the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. It became part of Italy in 1861. Montesano is home to several historical sites, including the Castello di Montesano, a medieval castle, and the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, a Baroque church.
