Montemayor is a municipality in the province of Córdoba, Andalusia, Spain, located at an altitude of 198 m above sea level and with a population of 3,925 (2020). The municipality has a total area of 58.03 km2. The weather is characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The municipality was founded in the 13th century by King Alfonso X of Castile and is home to a number of historical monuments, including the Church of Santa María de la Asunción, the Convent of San Francisco, and the Castle of Montemayor. The municipality is also known for its traditional crafts, including pottery, weaving, and basketry.
