Montecrestese is a town and comune in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. It is located at an altitude of 765 meters (2,510 feet) above sea level, on the slopes of the Montecrestese mountains. The town has a population of about 1,200 people. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from -2°C (28°F) in January to 25°C (77°F) in July. The town was founded in the 13th century by the Visconti family of Milan. It was later ruled by the Savoy dynasty and became part of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861. The town is known for its beautiful scenery, its historic buildings, and its traditional cuisine.
