The town has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Its history dates back to the 18th century, when it was settled by Dutch and German immigrants. Montebello's heritage is reflected in its many historic buildings, including the Montebello United Methodist Church, which was built in 1851.
