Monroeville is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located approximately 12 miles east of Pittsburgh, at the intersection of Pennsylvania Route 22 and U.S. Route 22. The borough has a total area of 8.3 square miles and a population of approximately 28,000. The climate in Monroeville is humid continental, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The borough was founded in 1796 by General James Monroe, who later became the fifth President of the United States. Monroeville is home to several historical landmarks, including the Monroeville Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
