Monongahela is a borough in Washington County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on the Monongahela River, approximately 20 miles south of Pittsburgh. The borough has a population of about 4,000 people. The climate is humid continental, with hot summers and cold winters. The area was first settled by Native Americans, and the borough was founded in 1818. It was an important center of the coal and steel industries in the 19th and 20th centuries.
