Moapa Valley is a small town in Clark County, Nevada, United States. It is located in the Moapa Valley, a broad, flat valley that is bounded by the Muddy Mountains to the east and the Spring Mountains to the west. The town is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 93 and State Route 169, about 40 miles (64 km) northeast of Las Vegas. The climate is hot and dry, with average temperatures ranging from 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius) in January to 105 degrees Fahrenheit (41 degrees Celsius) in July. The town was founded in 1865 by Mormon settlers, who named it after the Moapa River, which flows through the valley. The town's economy is based on agriculture, tourism, and gaming.
