Mishawaka, Indiana, is a city located in northern Indiana, approximately 10 miles east of South Bend and 90 miles east of Chicago. The city has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Mishawaka has a rich history dating back to the 1830s, when it was founded as a trading post on the St. Joseph River. The city played a significant role in the development of the automotive industry in the early 20th century, and it remains a major manufacturing center today. Mishawaka is also home to Bethel College, a private Christian liberal arts college founded in 1883.
