Mileto is a town in Calabria, Italy, located on the Tyrrhenian Sea coast, 38 kilometers (24 miles) northeast of Vibo Valentia. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Mileto was founded by the Greeks in the 6th century BC and was later ruled by the Romans, Byzantines, Normans, and Aragonese. The town's rich history is reflected in its many historical monuments, including the Norman-era castle and the Romanesque-Gothic cathedral.
