Miles City is a city in Montana, United States, located at the confluence of the Yellowstone and Tongue Rivers. It has a population of around 8,400 people. The city was founded in 1877 as a military outpost and was named after General Nelson A. Miles. Miles City is known for its ranching and agricultural heritage, and is home to the Range Riders Museum, which celebrates the history of the American cowboy. The city experiences a semi-arid climate, with hot summers and cold winters.
