Midland is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 7,293 at the 2010 census. Midland is located south of Tacoma and north of Lakewood. The climate is mild, with average temperatures ranging from 40 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The area was originally settled by Native Americans, and later by European settlers in the mid-19th century. The community was named after the Midland Railroad, which was built through the area in 1873.
