Michigan City, Indiana, also known as Michigan-Siti, is a city located on the southern shore of Lake Michigan, approximately 50 miles southeast of Chicago. It has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The city has a rich history and heritage, dating back to the 1830s when it was founded as a port town. It was a major center for the lumber industry in the 19th century and later became a popular tourist destination due to its beautiful beaches and proximity to Chicago.
