Mga is a town in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, located about 50 kilometers southeast of Saint Petersburg. The town is situated on the Mga River, a tributary of the Neva River. Mga has a humid continental climate with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. The town was founded in the 19th century as a railway station on the Saint Petersburg-Moscow line. During World War II, Mga was the site of fierce fighting between the Soviet and German armies. The town was heavily damaged during the war, but it was rebuilt after the war. Today, Mga is a thriving town with a population of over 10,000 people. The town is home to a number of industries, including a paper mill, a glass factory, and a food processing plant. Mga is also a popular tourist destination, with a number of historical and cultural attractions, including the Church of the Assumption, the Museum of Local Lore, and the Memorial to the Fallen Soldiers.
