Maud, Texas is a small town located in Bowie County, in the northeast corner of the state. The town is situated at the intersection of US Highway 82 and Texas State Highway 11, approximately 15 miles north of Texarkana. The climate in Maud is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The average temperature in July is 83 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average temperature in January is 42 degrees Fahrenheit. Maud was founded in 1885 as a stop on the Texas and Pacific Railway. The town was named after Maud Kennedy, the daughter of a railroad official. Maud has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic buildings, including the Maud Depot, which was built in 1885 and is now a museum.
