Mattituck is a hamlet in the town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, United States. The community is located on the North Fork of Long Island, adjacent to the Long Island Sound. The area was originally settled by the Matinecock Native Americans. In 1640, the land was purchased by English colonists and named after the Matinecock word "Mattituck," meaning "place of the dead." The hamlet is known for its vineyards and wineries, as well as its fishing and boating industries. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters.
