Marisfeld is a municipality in the district of Hildburghausen, in Thuringia, Germany. It is located at an elevation of 390 meters (1,280 feet) above sea level, in the southern foothills of the Thuringian Forest. The municipality has a population of approximately 4,500 people. The municipality was first mentioned in 1232, and it has a rich history that includes periods of rule by the Counts of Henneberg, the Dukes of Saxe-Meiningen, and the German Empire.
