The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and cold winters. Marano Ticino was first mentioned in a document from 1024, and it was a fief of the Archbishops of Novara until 1535, when it was acquired by the House of Savoy. The town's heritage includes the 12th-century Church of San Maurizio, the 15th-century Palazzo Comunale, and the 17th-century Villa Litta.
