Manorville is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York, United States. The hamlet is located on the south shore of Long Island, approximately 60 miles (97 km) east of New York City. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The average temperature in January is 32 °F (0 °C), while the average temperature in July is 75 °F (24 °C). The area was originally inhabited by the Algonquian-speaking Montaukett Indians. In 1639, English settlers purchased the land from the Indians and established the town of Brookhaven. Manorville was first settled in 1698 by a group of English farmers. The hamlet was named after the Manor of St. George, a large estate that was owned by William Nicoll, one of the original settlers.
