Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city, is located in central Myanmar on the east bank of the Irrawaddy River. With a tropical monsoon climate, Mandalay experiences hot, wet summers and mild, dry winters. Founded in 1857 by King Mindon, Mandalay served as the last royal capital of the Konbaung dynasty and is known for its rich cultural heritage, including the iconic Mandalay Palace and the Mahamuni Buddha Temple.
