Mamonovo, a town in the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia, was formerly known as Heiligenbeil. It is situated on the Pregolya River, approximately 50 kilometers southeast of Kaliningrad city. The region experiences a humid continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. Mamonovo has a rich history dating back to the 13th century when the Teutonic Knights established a castle there. It became part of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1701 and remained so until the end of World War II when it was annexed by the Soviet Union. The town retains significant historical and cultural heritage, including the ruins of the Heiligenbeil Castle and several churches and monuments.
