Mahmudia, also known as Mahmudie or Mahmudla, is a town in Tulcea County, Romania, located in the northern part of Dobruja, on the banks of the Danube River. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and cold winters. Mahmudia was founded in the 16th century by the Ottoman Turks and was named after Sultan Mahmud II. The town has a rich historical and cultural heritage, with many mosques, churches, and other historical buildings.
