Magallanes, formerly known as Magallanes, is a municipality in the province of Sorsogon, Philippines. Located at 12.8291700 latitude and 123.8363900 longitude, it is situated in the Bicol Region and is part of the province's first congressional district. The municipality has a tropical climate, with an average temperature of 27°C and an average annual rainfall of 2,000 mm. Magallanes was founded in 1571 by Spanish missionaries and was named after Ferdinand Magellan, the Portuguese explorer who first circumnavigated the globe. The municipality is home to several historical and cultural landmarks, including the Magallanes Church, which was built in 1571 and is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines.
