Lynbrook, New York, is a village in Nassau County, Long Island, with a population of 19,427 as of 2010. It is located on the South Shore of Long Island, approximately 19 miles east of Manhattan and 10 miles west of Jones Beach State Park. The climate is temperate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Lynbrook was founded in 1872 by a group of businessmen from Brooklyn who were looking for a place to build summer homes. The village was incorporated in 1911. The village is home to a number of historic buildings, including the Lynbrook Public Library, which was built in 1908, and the Lynbrook Fire Department, which was built in 1913.
