Los Alamitos, California is a small city in Orange County, located about 20 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The city has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The area was originally inhabited by the Tongva people, and was later part of the Spanish mission system. The city was founded in 1960 and is home to Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos, a major military installation.
