Lonoke, Arkansas, is a city in Lonoke County with a population of 4,245. It is located in the central part of the state, about 20 miles east of Little Rock. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Lonoke was founded in 1871 by the Cairo and Fulton Railroad. The city was named after Lonoke County, which was named after the Lonoke Creek, which flows through the county. The creek was named after the Lonoke people, a Native American tribe that lived in the area.
