Lindian is a town in the Weinan prefecture-level city of Shaanxi Province, China, with an elevation of 469 meters. It is located at 34°43'18.3"N 109°36'07.7"E and is in the central part of the Guanzhong Plain. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with an average annual temperature of 14.5 °C (58.1 °F) and average annual precipitation of 650 mm (26 in). Lindian has a long history, dating back to the Western Zhou dynasty (1046–771 BC). It was an important town during the Han dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) and was known as Lindian Zhen. The town was also an important center of Buddhism during the Tang dynasty (618–907 AD).
