Lindenhurst is a village in the town of Babylon, Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is located on the south shore of Long Island, approximately 40 miles (64 km) east of New York City. The village has a population of 27,253 as of the 2010 census. Lindenhurst was founded in 1873 by a group of German immigrants. The village was named after Lindenhurst, Germany. The village is home to a number of historical landmarks, including the Lindenhurst Historical Society Museum and the Lindenhurst Public Library. The village is also home to a number of parks and recreational facilities, including the Lindenhurst Park and the Lindenhurst Pool. The village has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters.
