Lincolnwood, Illinois, is a village located in Cook County, United States. It lies north of Chicago and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village has a population of 12,609 and covers an area of 3.5 square miles. The weather in Lincolnwood is typical of the Midwest, with cold winters and hot summers. The village was founded in 1873 by a group of German immigrants and was originally known as Gross Point. The name was changed to Lincolnwood in 1918 in honor of Abraham Lincoln. The village has a rich heritage and is home to a number of historic buildings, including the Lincolnwood Village Hall and the Lincolnwood Public Library.
