Liberty, Mississippi, is a town located in Amite County at the crossroads of Mississippi Highway 48 and Mississippi Highway 24. The town has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The town was founded in 1836 and was named after the Liberty Pole that was erected in the town square. The town has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic buildings, including the Liberty Methodist Church, which was built in 1840.
