Leżajsk has a rich history, dating back to the 14th century when it was founded by King Casimir III the Great. It was granted city rights in 1524 and became an important center of trade and commerce. The town's heritage is reflected in its numerous historical monuments, including the Bernardine Monastery and the Gothic Church of St. John the Baptist.
