Lehigh Acres, Florida, is an unincorporated community located in Lee County, approximately 15 miles east of Fort Myers. The area experiences a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. Lehigh Acres was originally part of a land grant to Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto in the 16th century. The area was later developed in the 1950s as a retirement community and has since grown into a thriving residential area.
