Laurinburg is a city in Scotland County, North Carolina, United States. It is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 74 and North Carolina Highway 15, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Rockingham and 25 miles (40 km) west of Lumberton. The city has a population of approximately 15,000 people. The climate in Laurinburg is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The city was founded in 1790 by John Laurin, a Scottish immigrant. Laurinburg is home to several historic sites, including the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, which was built in 1828, and the Scotland County Courthouse, which was built in 1853.
