Lanuvio has a rich history, dating back to the 7th century BC, when it was a major center of the Latin League. It was conquered by the Romans in 338 BC and became a municipium in 177 BC. Lanuvio is known for its well-preserved ancient ruins, including the Temple of Juno Sospita, the Sanctuary of Diana, and the Roman amphitheater.
