Lakeland, New York is a small village located in the town of Lysander, Onondaga County. It is situated at the southern end of Onondaga Lake, approximately 12 miles northwest of Syracuse. The village has a humid continental climate, with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Lakeland was originally settled by the Onondaga Nation, and was later purchased by European settlers in the 18th century. The village was incorporated in 1859 and has a rich history and heritage, including a number of historic buildings and landmarks.
